Boomers inherited a country entering an extraordinary period of postwar prosperity and technological progress, and they now hold a significant share of the nation’s wealth and leadership positions. But the inheritance awaiting younger generations is more complicated. While Boomers hold roughly $93 trillion in wealth, an estimated $36 trillion will ultimately reach Gen X and Millennial heirs, with most going to households that are already wealthy. At the same time, younger Americans will inherit a national debt approaching the size of the economy, looming Social Security and Medicare funding challenges, and historically low trust in government. Mehlman argues that perhaps the most consequential generational divide is cultural: younger Americans express substantially less confidence in institutions, patriotism, religion, family, and even America itself. The coming generational transition, therefore, will involve much more than transferring wealth and political power. It will require rebuilding the confidence and institutions necessary to sustain the prosperity Boomers inherited.

His New Amazon Delivery Plan Could Make NYC More Expensive.” By Jarrett Stepman: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is pushing a new Delivery Protection Act that would impose additional licensing, safety, training, and labor requirements on last-mile warehouses and delivery operations. While Mamdani argues the measure will protect workers and hold companies such as Amazon accountable, Stepman warns it could have the opposite effect. Amazon relies on more than 40 subcontractors employing roughly 5,000 workers to make deliveries across New York City, and the company says the legislation could threaten those jobs and force delivery operations outside the city. Small business owners who operate Amazon delivery partnerships have also warned that the proposal could put them out of business. Stepman argues that the predictable result will be longer delivery times, higher costs for consumers, and fewer opportunities for workers and small businesses. It is another example of how Mamdani’s big government socialist approach to “affordability” could ultimately make New York City more expensive.

The Mayor’s Fund is designed to bring together city agencies, philanthropic organizations, community leaders, and the private sector to address challenges facing New Yorkers. Mamdani’s administration has indicated that the fund will move away from corporate leadership and instead emphasize working New Yorkers, activists, union leaders, and progressive organizers. Stepman argues that the overhaul is part of Mamdani’s broader effort to place ideological allies in positions of influence and reshape New York City government around his socialist agenda. Critics warn that removing business leaders from an organization that relies on public-private partnerships could further alienate employers, investment, and job creators at a time when New York needs them.

the Voter ID Act” By The Committee on House Administration: Congressman Bryan Steil has moved to implement something that most developed nations have been using for decades: voter ID. This common-sense policy has been successful in virtually every country that has it. In Europe, western democracies use voter ID to ensure that elections are as safe as possible. In these countries, voters can use simple documents, such as a driver’s license or a passport, to prove their identity before they cast their ballot. Despite arguments from liberal naysayers, voter ID laws do not dampen turnout in nations such as France or the United Kingdom. Rep. Steil’s legislation does three things: requires an ID to participate in federal elections, creates a grant to reimburse states for providing free IDs, and allows provisional ballots to be cast if a voter accidentally leaves behind their ID. Each of these objectives are widespread throughout the world. Why should the U.S. be left behind?

Compared to 1776, 1800 proved to the world that peaceful transfers of power were possible in non-monarchial systems. Hartmann investigates the divide between the Federalists and Democratic-Republicans, the crisis of Washington’s succession, and the crucial role Thomas Jefferson played in the process. The book showcases how this election defined the role of political parties, drawing lessons on the danger of polarization, attacks on civil liberties, the importance of respecting election outcomes, and the need to prioritize common principles over partisan gain. He suggests that modern democracy needs restraint, legitimate opposition, and peaceful transitions of power to survive.

In what he calls “one party rule” in California, Heubusch shows how California prohibits voter identification measures, pushes for mail-in ballots, and created the “Jungle Primary” system that no longer guarantees Republican candidates get a spot in general state elections. For instance, in LA’s mayoral race Spencer Pratt does not meet the threshold for continuing onto the runoff election, forcing Democratic voters to decide between two Democrat candidates. Along with the larger share of registered Democrat voters, he concludes that the races for California Governor and Los Angeles Mayor were long been decided before they even began.

Subscribe now
