Amid Global Tension, A Season of Hope

Dear Inner Circle Member,

I am writing this in truly freezing Washington DC. Washington is so much colder than Bern, Switzerland it is hard to imagine.

We were just in Gstaad, Switzerland a week ago. It is one of the great ski resources in Europe. It is a lovely little town with lots of stores and restaurants. It is surrounded on all four sides by mountains. It was also about 20 degrees warmer there than Washington.

Of course there are a lot of things going on here. It is as though we are entering the Christmas and New Year’s season with an overload of things to worry about.

The tragic killings in Australia and at Brown University are just one reminder of how fragile our world is.
